Whether you are a pro off-roader or a total n00b, the Trail Control system on the new 2019 Ranger FX4 and the F150 Raptor can be a nice feature. It’s like cruise control over challenging surfaces. In this video Ryan tests it out on the new Ranger XLT FX4 during the Northwest Auto Press Associ ation’s off-road test day.

This type of crawl control is certainly becoming the norm in off-roaders, and while credit belongs to Toyota for being the first to do it right I will admit that they’ve sorta rested on their laurels with it and the Ford’s type of system is much more refined.  I do wonder what the cost of such refinement is.  I know the brake booster/controller on some Toyota models is STUPID expensive as a result, like $1800.

It looks and sounds good, but can’t help but look at the Jeep Renegade following behind, waiting for the Ford to move on. Lol.

It’s like when watching TopGear race a car against a train, plane, etc...

All the cars are fast and powerful, but the Land Rover camera car is always with them, often in front. So that tells me

But the BBC likes Land Rover.

They use other vehicles, but Land Rovers are used most often.

So if you want a car to beat a Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley, plane, train, public service, etc... get a camera car.

As a video person I can confirm that If I want to video a biker or skier, Im working WAY harder than they are to get in front of them. I love watching docs like free solo because of the insane work of the film crews.

Its like warren miller says. “if you think that looks hard, remember there is a camera man doing it, with one eye shut, looking sidewards.

The ‘ cruise control’ description is accurate, rather than changing the way you drive for conditions like snow, mud, sand, rocks - drivers can just turn a dial/push a button andthen g et back to taking selfies for IG..

pffft, why can’t they do it the way the old timers did selfies, with a hand throttle!

“sidewards” that’s the word of the day now.

Also, I went to see a Warren Miller movie a couple years ago, it was good!

we used to go every year with my brothers and dad, then the event started being less fun, then they started giving out less stuff with the ticket, then Warren miller retired and...well...we don’t really go much anymore.

oh, how long has he been retired? Are the movies just under his name now but he doesn’t do it anymore?

about 5 years ago. Jonny Mosely narrates now and... well... he's just not Warren Miller.
